Surgery Saved His Leg

Smoke

Storm, a young mixed breed, escaped one night and got hit by a car. Our vet partner, Suncoast Emergency & Specialty Center, reached out to us to see if we could help the family struggling to save their dog.

Storm had sustained a serious break to his femur requiring surgery. He had a left comminuted femoral shaft fracture. The bone had broken into more than three places due to the force of the impact. Due to the financial hardships the family was facing, Suncoast reached out to Lost Pet Services for help. Dr. Young was able to place a plate and seven screws to secure the broken bone. He also suffered road rash and other minor wounds over his body.

Lost Pet Services was able to cover his entire bill to save this young dog's life thanks to the generous donations and grants we receive. Partial funding was made possible through our Medical Assistance Program for emergency, trauma and surgical cases from a grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County through their Animal Welfare Grant Program thanks to the Martha Leiter and Nancy Streetman Fund I and Robert Parker Fund.
